The Dahlander motor with two speeds can be recognized by the pole pair ratio of 1:2, i.e. 3000: 1500 rpm (2:4 pole), 1500: 750 rpm (4:8 pole), etc.

The pole-changing motor with two separate windings can usually be recognized by the pole pair arrangement 1500: 1000 rpm (4:6 pole), 1000: 750 rpm (6:8) etc.
