6. When should the gear oil of the gear motor be changed?
A lubricant change should be carried out at least every 10,000 operating hours. For synthetic oils, these deadlines are doubled. In extreme operating conditions, e.g. high humidity, aggressive environments and high temperature fluctuations, shorter lubricant intervals are necessary. It is recommended to combine the lubricant change with a thorough cleaning of the gearbox. The oil should be drained immediately after stopping, while the oil is still warm. In this state, the lubricant is more likely to be mixed with the dirt particles, so that the interior of the transmission is cleaned better after the used oil has been drained. The type of new gear oil can be found on the gearbox nameplate and is offered by various manufacturers (see table).
