8. What must be taken into account when setting up an electric motor?
Pay attention to even support, good foot or flange fastening and precise alignment with direct coupling. Construction-related resonances with the rotation frequency and twice the mains frequency must be avoided. Runners should be turned by hand and attention should be paid to unusual grinding noises. The direction of rotation in the uncoupled state must be checked. Drive elements (belt pulley, coupling...) should only be mounted or removed using suitable devices (heating!) and covered with protection against contact. Unacceptable belt tensions must be avoided. Appropriate precautions must be taken against long-term exposure to dust, water and solar radiation (e.g. extensive protection). If the end of the shaft is facing up, water must be prevented from entering along the shaft.
